Students seeking to study Artificial Intelligence (AI) up to degree level can now do so at Peter University, Achina/Onneh, Anambra State.

The university has introduced 11 new degree programmes approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the 2026/2027 academic session, expanding its academic offerings in response to the growing demand for technology-driven, professional and future-ready skills.

Among the new programmes are B.Sc. Artificial Intelligence, B.Sc. Data Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Radiography, Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE), Social Work, Public Administration and Psychology. The university is also offering degree programmes in Human Anatomy and Physiology, as well as a Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPT).

The new programmes complement Peter University's existing range of courses and are supported by its pool of scholars, modern academic facilities and specialised learning environments.

The B.Sc. Artificial Intelligence programme is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to develop intelligent systems and apply emerging AI technologies to real-world challenges.

The B.Sc. Data Science programme focuses on harnessing data to drive innovation, support decision-making and solve complex problems in an increasingly digital world.

Students of B. Medical Laboratory Science will be trained to contribute to healthcare delivery through laboratory expertise and accurate diagnosis, while B. Radiography prepares graduates to apply medical imaging technologies in diagnosis and patient care.

The B.Sc. Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) combines three disciplines to equip students to analyse political and economic systems, understand society and contribute to effective policy-making.

Other new programmes include B.Sc. Social Work, B.Sc. Public Administration and B.Sc. Psychology, alongside B.Sc. Human Anatomy, B.Sc. Physiology and the DPT in Physiotherapy programme, which focuses on restoring movement, relieving pain and improving patients' quality of life through therapeutic care.

These new offerings broaden an already diverse academic portfolio. Prospective students can choose from programmes including Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Political Science, Mass Communication, International Relations and Diplomacy, Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, Nursing Science, Public Health, Law, as well as emerging programmes in Science, Computing and related fields.

Peter University states that its programmes are approved by the NUC, while relevant professional programmes enjoy recognition from their respective regulatory bodies. The university is also an Affiliate Member institution of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
